Collection ID#: PC 00575
Photographer:
Probably George White, New Glasgow
Printer: StanfieldSmith Co. Ltd., Dresden (Germany) and Truro, NS
Publisher: George White, New Glasgow, NS, No. 148
Postmark: Sept 19, 1912 - Westville, NS

Addressed to Mrs. John Sullivan, 12 Garfield St, Jamaica Plain, Mass. The message reads "Arrived here at last. Visited Westville lodge. Had a very pleasant time. Am going to call to see Mrs Sullivan next week. Hope you are all well and will see you soon. Ella"

This view is unusually close to the schooner, so details such as the American flag can be seen. A very rare card indeed, there is a number in the lower right hand front corner but it is illegible.

Real photo postcards of the James William are also very hard to find. The original real photo postcard (shown above at left) is very faded and almost sepia in colour. The image shown in black & white in center above, has been Photoshop enhanced so that the details can be seen. PC 00599 (shown next) was likely taken later in the day from a similar vantage point, by the same photographer, as the two cards were stored together and are very similar in colouration, fade and aging.

As noted above, this image was likely taken by the same photographer that took the picture for PC 00598. The image shown above in center in black & white, has also been Photoshop enhanced so that the details can be seen.
